Why have one cat, when you could have two? It turns out that having more than one cat can often make your life easier, and more fun for everyone.
1. A SECOND CAT MEANS COMPANIONSHIP
If you tend to work longer days or have to be away from home for extended periods of time, a single cat can get lonely. Cats are social animals and not having humans around can be depressing. Adopting a second cat provides constant companionship for your kitty.
2. MORE EXERCISE, HALF THE WORK
We know life gets busy and sometimes work follows you home. Not having enough time to play means a lot of pent-up energy for fluffy. This can lead to less sleep at night for you because your cat may decide that instead of bedtime...it's playtime! Introducing another cat gives your cat a friend and a playmate.
3. DISCOUNTED ADOPTIONS
Many shelters offer discounts if you adopt two cats at the same time. Consider adopting two littermates or a bonded pair, the latter are usually older and less likely to be adopted because they must go together. Adopting two at the same time can also help ensure you have a good match.
4. TWO CATS AREN'T USUALLY DOUBLE TROUBLE
Because two cats can use each other to relieve their boredom, they're less likely to spend too much time getting into things they shouldn't. Giving cats multiple perches, lots of toys and a friend means happy cats and happy cats = happy you!
